How do you clean a coir welcome mat?

Brush off and shake out only. Coir is not water-resistant -- soaking destroys it. For stains, use a slightly damp cloth.

Spray with vinegar, scrub with a brush, rinse, and dry in direct sunlight. Replace if mold has fully penetrated.

On white or non-colored mats, diluted bleach kills mold. Avoid on colored mats -- it causes fading.

Take the mat outside and shake or beat it to remove loose dirt and dust.

Lay the mat on a clean surface (driveway or grass) and spray with the hose to wet thoroughly.

Spray Multi-Surface Cleaner across the mat and scrub with a stiff brush. Work the cleaner into the fibers.

Rinse with the hose until the water runs clear and no soap remains.

Hang to dry
Hang the mat over a railing or fence to dry completely. Do not lay it flat -- this traps moisture underneath.
